I am listing the next three sharks on the endangered list.
The third shark on the endangered list is the Dusky shark.
According to AZ Animals, the Dusky shark lives in tropical waters. They normally feed on the bottom of the ocean. Fun Fact: they have five pairs of gills!
Why is the dusky shark endangered?
According to AZ Animals, they are sought out for their fins and are caught by sport fisherman. Large numbers have also been caught in shark nets off the coasts of Australia and South America, which may have resulted in their decreased numbers. They have a year gap between pregnancies.
The fourth shark on the endangered list is the Whale shark.
Why is the Whale Shark endangered?
According to AZ Animals, the Whale Shark is the biggest shark. They make their homes in tropical waters all over the world. Fun Fact: every Whale shark has its own unique spots, has 300 rows of teeth, and they eat plankton!
AZ Animals say they are endangered due to being hit by watercrafts, bycatch, overfishing it is also believed that the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 decreased their numbers.
The fifth shark on the endangered list is the Great Hammerhead.
According to AZ Animals, the great Hammerhead lives in tropical waters. They live in Florida Southern China Sea and migrate closer to the poles for the summer.
Why is the Great Hammerhead number five on the endangered list?
This is do to bycatch, overfishing and more. According to AZ Animals the numbers have decreased 80 precent over the last twenty years.
